4th of July
My favorite holiday!! Too bad it was crazy hot and too dry for any fireworks :(. We still managed to enjoy Brownsburg's fourth of July parade (in the shade!) and spent the rest of the day inside!

One month
Conrad turned one month old on July 12.
What he is up to:
- Nursing all.the.time! Every 1-2 hours during the day and 3-4 hours at night. So far, has only had breast milk!
- Loves to be held. Especially by his Mommy!
- Great eye contact! Loves to watch what is going on around him.
- Takes short cat naps during the day...looks like I'm going to have another bad napper :-(
- His eyes are still blue and he has lost some of his dark hair.
-Wears size 1 diapers and 0-3 month clothes

Father's Day
The boys and I are so lucky to have this guy in our lives! He is a great daddy and hubby! Wyatt asks every morning "where is daddy...at work or golf?" :). He loves to play any kind of ball and video games with his Dad. Any time something is broken, he always says "daddy will fix it when he gets home"!
Fathers day this year was not very exciting since Conrad was only 5 days old. We did have our first outing as a family of 4...to Dick's Sporting Goods to pick out daddy's gift (a golf club of course!). Then enjoyed an evening outside practicing with the new club. Pretty good day :)
Big Brother
Wyatt has been such a good big brother. He has done so well with baby Conrad, from the moment that they met in the hospital. He is a big helper to Mommy, getting her burp cloths, diapers, whatever I ask him for while I am nursing. He is so gentle with Conrad (when he is paying attention) and loves to give him little kisses and talk to him. We have had a few meltdowns and rough times, but I think that has more to do with being 3 and giving up his naps (which mommy misses alot). Naptime has always been a struggle with Wyatt and now I don't have the time or energy to make him nap, so it usually doesn't happen. Luckily, he has been sleeping in and I can usually at least get him to lay down for some quiet tv time in the afternoon. He has probably been eating more junk food than he should (he can get into the cabinets and fridge by himself) and watching more tv than he should, but I think we are doing ok :). Pretty soon, he will be starting preschool (aug 13) and I will be heading back to work in September, so we will enjoy the time that we have together!!

iPhone
Just realized I can blog from my iPhone. Not sure why I just figured this out, but it may mean that I actually update the blog more often than every 6 months :). Maybe.

Conrad Birth Day
Here is the story of Conrad's birth. If you aren't interested in the details, feel free to skip to the pictures :)
Leading up to the big day...
At 36 weeks, I had an ultrasound that estimated his weight at 6lbs 1oz. Knowing that Wyatt weighed 6lbs 12oz at birth at 40 weeks and I pushed for 2 hours, my doctor and I both hoped that I would go into labor on my own around 38 weeks :) That didn't happen. At 38 weeks, I was not dilating at all. I cried and then walked alot. At 39 weeks, I was dilated to 3 cm and having irregular contractions. My doctor gave me the option to wait it out or schedule an induction at 40 weeks...I chose the induction, but still hoped I would go into labor earlier. I didn't.
Induction Day (June 12, 2012)
We were scheduled to be at the hospital at 6:30 in the morning. That is very early!! I barely got any sleep that night, so much excitement and anxiety, knowing that we were going to meet our little guy, but not knowing how labor and delivery were going to go. We left the house bright and early, stopped at Starbucks for breakfast and coffee for Daddy, and arrived at the hospital. We got checked in and then waited around in our room. The night nurse finally got me checked in, hooked up to the monitor and IV started (ouch!! Those things really do hurt!). Then we waited for day shift to get things rolling…
The resident made it in around 8:00 and checked me (still 3 cm and 75%) and did a quick ultrasound to make sure baby’s head was really down (it was). Really glad I opted for that induction!! I was having irregular, mild contractions on the monitor, so the nurse got the pitocin started at 8:30 am to try to get them going in a regular pattern. It didn’t take long for them to get regular and painful! Dr Johnson arrived at 10:20am and broke my water (4-5cm and 75%)…that was not a pleasant experience! Nothing like feeling like you are constantly peeing your pants. No wonder Conrad didn’t want to come out…he was hanging in his own private swimming pool. You could actually feel my stomach go down considerably after getting all that fluid out! And then the contractions got even more painful. I quickly asked for the epidural and was very glad to see the anesthesiologist arrive at 11:30. The relief was amazing, although there was a small area on my left side that never got numb from the epidural, so I could still feel the contractions there, but it was still so much better! My right side also got more numb than my left side (odd). Things progressed pretty quickly after that. Around 12:30pm, I started having some bad back pain and had a feeling that something was going on. They paged Dr Johnson to get back to the hospital. It took her awhile to call back because her and her partner had accidentally and unknowingly switched pagers! Once they got it straightened out, she quickly arrived at 1:10pm, checked me (10cm 90%), and said I could start pushing!
Conrad tolerated the first 2 sets of pushes without problem, then during the third set, his heartrate started dropping, and dropping and dropping until they couldn’t find it. I didn’t need to hear my doctor say “we need to get him out now”, I already knew, so after 4 hard pushes, Conrad entered the world at 1:30 pm…and he was perfect and healthy!! I was so happy to hear him cry and hold him on my chest! My big guy weighed in at 8lbs even and was 21.5 in long! They even weighed him twice to make sure he really weighed that much (he did!) J He looked so much like his big brother, I was amazed and instantly in love with my second sweet boy!!
