Congrats Mom!

My mom is officially a Nurse Practitioner!! Her graduation was this weekend, but she wasn't feeling up to going, so we had a cookout to celebrate instead! She has been doing pretty well since her shunt surgery. Headaches are finally gone!! In their place is a few more sore incisions but those will heal! We are so proud of her accomplishments!
Mom with her cake (hopefully, she won't kill me for posting a pic of her!)

In pregnancy news...I am slowly feeling better. After our ordeal, I am very thankful to be 29 weeks pregnant and hoping to stay that way for a while longer (but not too long, haha)! I get tired really easy and still have back/kidney pain at times, but am doing my best to drink lots of water! Hopefully my doctors will be happy with my progress because I feel like my belly is growing bigger daily...I think Wyatt is taking all the water and making himself a nice swimming pool in there! Here is the proof:

Baby Harper has arrived!!

I thought is was about time for a positive post around here, so here it is :) Our friends Vickie and Andy welcomed a baby girl into their family on Sunday, April 19. She weighed in at 8 lbs 3 oz. We were finally able to meet her (the first time we tried to go visit was on Monday when I ended up in the hospital) and she is beautiful! We can't wait for Wyatt to get here to play with her!

Nolan is very proud of his new little sister!

There's no place like home...

I got home from the hospital around 11 pm Tuesday night. It was so great to sleep in my own bed and I finally got some rest! Feeling better, still having some back pain and minor cramping, but it seems to be getting better. Guess I'll be hanging out on the couch with my water jug for a few days :)
In other news, my mom is having another surgery today :( Her spinal fluid is not draining properly from her head so it is building up causing her more headaches, nausea, and lots of leaking from her incision. They are putting in a shunt to drain the fluid. Hopefully, it will just be an overnight hospital stay and she can get back on track for her recovery.
Thanks so much for all your thoughts and prayers as always! My family is certainly doing their part to keep the local hospitals in business these days :)

Unexpected Hospital Visit

Well, I wan't plannning on spending the night at Women's Hospital for several more weeks, but apparently my body had other plans for me. I have been having some minor lower abdominal cramping for a few days, that I assumed was growing pains. Then on Monday evening, I developed excrutiating lower back pain on my right side, along with the lower abdomen cramps. I called the MD and they sent me to the hospital. Basically, we found that I have a yucky bladder/kidney infection and was rather dehydrated. It was a very miserable few hours to say the least. Once they finally got my IV in, a combination of Morphine, Zofran, and fluids finally did the trick! Luckily, Wyatt is doing just fine. They have been monitoring his heartrate, and he was kicking lots at the monitors on my belly! In other good news, my cervix is closed tight and my uterus is "irritable" according to the monitor, but no true contractions to be concerned about. I am very thankful that he has decided to stay put for a while longer! I am feeling much better today...hopefully home late tonight after 24 hours of IV antibiotics. I will have to remain on po antibiotics the rest of my pregnancy and drink at least 2 liters (yikes!) of water per day to prevent this from happening again. Otherwise, hopefully we won't be back here for at least 10 more weeks! I have learned that I make a much better nurse than I do a patient!!

28 Week Dr. Visit

Good News: I haven't heard from the office, so that must mean that I passed the glucose tolerance test= no gestational diabetes!! Blood pressure was good and Wyatt's heartbeat sounded beautiful, as usual :) I get to have an ultrasound in 2 weeks...which leads us to the...

Not as good news: According to my doctor's measurements, my belly is measuring about 4 weeks smaller than it should and my weight gain is lower than what they would like (only 1 lb in the past 4 weeks). I will have an ultrasound at my next appointment in 2 weeks to check and make sure that Wyatt is growing properly and there aren't any other problems. Hopefully, he is just a smaller baby, like his mama. Everything was fine at my 20 week ultrasound so we are hoping for the same results. And I have doctor's orders to eat more :)

Here is my 28 week belly shot. I say that we just throw out the measurements and go by my belly shots because he is obviously growing based on those! :)

New pictures of Wyatt to come in 2 weeks....

26 Weeks

It is hard to believe that I am getting ready to start my third trimester and that baby Wyatt will be here in less than 100 days!! I am starting to feel like I am carrying around a bowling ball under my shirt! It is getting harder to turn over in bed and get off the couch :) I guess that means he is growing! Here are a few pics:

Grammy update: My mom is doing pretty well at home. She is working hard on her therapies and hoping that she will be able to eat some real food soon. She has been able to have a few bites of pudding and really enjoyed it. She is working to build up her strength so she can walk in her graduation ceremony in a few weeks. The best news is that the tumor is benign, so we know that all your prayers worked!

Nursery Progress

Here are a few updated pics of the nursery with the crib and dresser in place. The dresser will double as a changing table once we get the changing pad to put on it. The crib is still missing the mattress so that is why it looks a little funny :) The only big item still missing is a rocker/glider. It's coming together!
